Russian American Armory
This semi-automatic Carbine from Russian American Armory is magnificent. Chambered for the 762X39 rounds, the RAA Saiga Carbine features a skeleton stock for extra stability and a 10 round Magazine for hunting. This carbine is a great introduction to AK-47 type hunting rifles.

So far.. great rifle, built pretty solid from what I can tell. Really has that AK feel to it. If you''re just going by the online pic, this thing looks alot better and more rugged in person. The rifle is great as is. (better than I expected) The skeleton stock is cool, but it just didn''t feel right in my hand. I went ahead and got mine set up with a pistol grip, folding stock, sling, and a 30rd mag. I''ve had it for only a couple of days so I haven''t gotten a chance to really "shoot" with it, so I can''t say how accurate it is at X amount of yrds. Taking it to the range this weekend so we shall see!

This is the best AK variant I could find at such a reasonable price. This is an authentic Russian made Ak, that has been converted to a sport configuration for import. Most other Ak''s on the market at this price are made from used parts kits, with terrible build quality. Sure they will function, but dont expect accuracy. I am incredibly impressed with the fit and finish of this AK.
There are several changes they make to the gun, that stray from traditional configuration. The fire control group, and trigger are moved backward a few inches to where the pistol grip usually comes out, leaving the magwell all out by itself. The front sight block it neutered ]no threads or bayonet lug[, there is a different gas block, 300m sights instead of 1000m ]like that matters[, you have to use proprietary mags, and a few other things. In my mind, I can ignore all of this for the price. Arsenal converts Saigas back to Russian military spec, but for twice the price of a Saiga.
Shooting impressions: I am impressed! best groups of any AK I have EVER fired. Ran 200 rounds of Yugo surplus with no problems whatsoever. Head shots are a joke at 75 yards ]the furthest my range goes.[ The skeleton stock is a little short ]i am looking into extension pads[, but very usable. The grip functions like a pistol grip, and is very comfortable to use. The cheek pad is mainly for use with optics, as it raises your weld well over the iron sights, not a problem as it can be moved out of the way. The overall appearance of the Saiga is very impressive. I absolutely love this gun, with frangible rounds it is now my bedside partner.
